The TRSL benefits calculator allows you to enter data to calculate an unofficial projection of your retirement benefits. This is NOT an official estimate. The calculator is provided as a service to help you better understand what retirement income you may expect from TRSL.

Who should use the calculator

The estimate is based on service retirement for Regular Plan members. The estimate does not include credit for eligible sick or annual leave, which is added after retirement.

Who should not use the calculator

Because of the complexities of the calculations, you should not use this calculator if you meet any one of the following criteria:

• you have part-time service credit at any time during your career
• you have LSU service credit before January 1, 1979
• your salary is paid in part or in full with school food service funds
• you are considering disability retirement
• you are considering the Initial Lump-Sum Benefit (ILSB)
• you are retiring after ending DROP participation

If any of those criteria apply, contact TRSL directly for an estimate if you are within three years of retirement eligibility. An official estimate may be obtained by submitting a written request to TRSL at P.O. Box 94123, Baton Rouge LA 70804-9123, or by submitting a Estimate Request (Form 10). Please allow four to six weeks for a response to written estimate requests.

The calculator uses the data you enter and does not compare it against your actual member account. It is not connected to the TRSL database, which stores the data pertinent to your account. The accuracy of your estimate will depend on the accuracy of the information you provide. If you are within three years of retirement, TRSL strongly suggests that you contact the retirement system directly (see above) for an estimate based on your account information.

This calculator is not a guarantee you will receive any amount calculated by its use. It does not replace an official TRSL benefit estimate.

The actual pension you receive as a member of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana is determined according to state law. When you retire, your pension will be calculated according to the applicable formulas.
